Broad-area diode lasers often have poor beam quality due to their narrow cavity and wide waveguide, which spreads the beam and reduces brightness even if the optical power is high . Far-field divergence, especially along the lateral axis, can significantly limit the effective brightness of the emitted light .Thermal EffectsNonuniform temperature distribution across the diode can create a thermal lens effect, distorting the beam and increasing divergence. This reduces lateral brightness and limits the efficiency of fiber coupling or focusing .
